State Duma Deputy from LDPR Vasily Vlasov appealed to the CEC head Ella Pamfilova to examine the feasibility of using the technology of the blockchain for the election of mayor in 2018. His vision of the situation he outlined in a letter addressed to the Pamfilova.
«I ask You to consider the process of voting on elections of the mayor of the city of Moscow in 2018 using the blockchain,» wrote Vlasov.
In February, the politician wrote in the name Pamfilova, offering to introduce a system of «e-citizenship» with the inclusion of the technology of the blockchain to implement the voting process. According to him, the use of the blockchain would allow voting remotely without the risk of third-party intervention and on condition of anonymity.
«Check the effectiveness of this system, I consider it expedient to hold elections for the mayor of the city of Moscow with application of the blockchain, because Moscow is the most advanced from the point of view of implementation of information technologies in work of public authorities in the Russian Federation. In addition, the level of turnout in Moscow is falling from year to year. The transition to electronic voting could significantly increase turnout in the upcoming elections, as well as to reduce the cost of their implementation», – said Vlasov.
