Chairman of the economic Committee of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Reza’s Parabrahma (Mohammad Reza Pourebrahimi) stated that the inhabitants of the country moved more than 2.5 billion dollars on foreign trading platforms and converted them into the cryptocurrency.
However, earlier, in an interview with Insa, he called another number: only for a few months, the Iranians withdrew from the country through cryptocurrency $ 30 billion. The President’s statement followed immediately after the ban
The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) for holding banks and financial institutions transaction-related crypto operations. CBI justifies its actions referring to the fact that such operations carry risks of money laundering and financing of terrorism.
Parabrahma stated that the national cryptocurrency could facilitate economic activities and anti-American sanctions, but so far there were no developments own cryptocurrency. However, his words are at variance with recent statements
the Minister of information and communication technologies (ICT) Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi (Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi), which said that Iran has already developed a pilot local cryptocurrency.
