A sidechained Micro-Raiden is running in the main blockchain Ethereum

µRaiden – one-way payment channel that allows you to send tokens from arbitrary senders the predetermined recipient, wherein the payments are held outside of the blockchain, but verifierade network Ethereum.

A sidechained designed for users, often sending small payments to the same address, such as Coinbase or Bitpay. An unlimited number of such payments is recorded in the blockchain with just one transaction, opening the channel and does not load the network Ethereum, of course, except in cases of dispute.

The user (below called «sender») that wishes to access resources of the provider, open the channel of micropayments, which direct the Deposit tokens. In fact, these tokens are on escrow accounts managed by a smart contract.

Such a sidechained can serve thousands and millions of transactions, and the Commission can be arbitrarily small or absent, opening opportunities for microtransactions, such as sharing between machines in the Internet of Things, or pay-per-view content on the channel, in short, where even the minimum gas-the Commission does all the transaction unprofitable.

Of course, the scope of µRaiden is fairly limited, but this is just the first step. The full network will allow Raiden to hold a bilateral transaction between an unlimited number of users, using intermediate compounds, generated in accordance with the theory of «six degrees of separation» (the theory that any two people on Earth divided into no more than five levels of mutual friends). Apparently, the creation of the full version is still facing significant challenges associated with the creation of decentralized routing. According to the portal Trustnodes, this issue still remains unresolved and it is hoped that the recent tocancel gathered 109 532 ETH, gave the company the resources needed for further development.

Increasing network bandwidth is a critical problem for developers of Ethereum. Despite the fact that the past hardwork Byzantium blew it by delaying the «bomb the complexity of» three times the number of transactions is still growing at a faster pace at the end of November was already about 700 000 transactions a day, again approaching a dangerous limit.

Radically solve the problem of scaling can only full-scale transition to PoS and sharding, which is unlikely to happen before 2019. The Protocol is hybrid PoW/PoS Casper FFG, preparing to launch into part two of the release of Metropolis in the middle of next year, will not give a noticeable increase in throughput, as new blocks will still be created on the PoW, so before switching to full PoS task performance entirely on the protocols of Saidjanov the second level, such as Plasma
and Raiden.

It should, however, be noted that the views of the key developers of Ethereum on the role of Saidjanov significantly different. While their main supporter is acne Buterin, Vlad Zamfir has repeatedly spoken out against Saidjanov, calling them a threat to the security of the network. Developed by Zamfira alternative Protocol PoS – Casper CBC, is the basis of the blockchain RChain, in which both PoS is implemented sharding, which allow to achieve 40 000 – 100 000 transactions per second, without resorting to shadchanim.
