Shanghai police on Thursday suddenly interrupted and shut down held in the blockchain conference.
A one-day event called Global Fintech & Blockchain 2018 China Summit, organized by the PTP International, was scheduled for April 12. However, around noon local time Thursday morning session of the conference was stopped by the police, all participants and visitors of the conference had to leave the venue. The afternoon session of the event was also cancelled.
According to the event website, the summit was planned performances of several key speakers, panel discussions and exhibition, which was supposed to participate, financial institutions, governmental and cryptocurrency projects.
The official reason for the cancellation of the event was not announced, which gave rise to rumors quickly began to spread in the online media
in social network Weibo. They reported that the investors told the police about the presence at the event representatives of the ICO project, in which they have invested and presumably lost a large amount of money.
However, in a statement to the media summit organizers have denied the rumors and said that the conference was carried out in compliance with Chinese laws. PTP International said:
«We continue to find out reasons for the termination of the event, and has received from the police explanation that this was due to a security threat. Now we are thinking of how to compensate participants. The conference was conducted in compliance with the laws of China and it hasn’t participated in ICO projects.»
Later, the company representative also noted that the firm is waiting for more information from the police.
