Chapter Ministry of Russia Sergey Donskoy believes that it is appropriate to use the capacity of the renewable energy sector in Siberia and the Far East for mining cryptocurrency.
«We believe that it would be preferable for the production of bitcoins to use the power of «green» energy, which creates less emissions and therefore less impact on the environment. This trend has good prospects in the future. As for our country, there is a fairly large spare capacity, for example, in Siberia and in the far East,» he said.
The Minister explained that under the «green» energy, it implies renewable.
«This is something that does not use fossil fuels – coal, oil. Solar and wind energy as well as energy, which is obtained by thermal waste treatment. I think we have people talented enough and all available power will be used, including for mining,» added the Minister.
In turn, a similar statement was made by Deputy energy Minister of Russia Vyacheslav Kravchenko – he advised the miners to use excess renewable energy on the Kola Peninsula in the Arctic zone.
Earlier, the government of the Japanese city Casuno announced its intention to attract mining companies, providing them with renewable energy sources.
