The U.S. Treasury adds cryptocurrency addresses in the sanctions lists

The office for foreign assets control of the U.S. Treasury Department (OFAC), chief Executive of the authority for the sanctions in the U.S., has announced that it plans to include in the sanctions list of the addresses of cryptocurrency wallets of individuals who are already in the black list.

Under cryptocurrency wallet OFAC understands «a software application (or other mechanism) that provides tools for storage and transmission of digital currency», under the address – «alphanumeric identifier that represents a potential destination for the digital transfer of currency.»

Management encourages cooperation cryptocurrency companies, stock exchanges and exchangers «must work together to monitor suspicious addresses that can be in the black list».

In addition to the existing instruments, consisting of information propaganda and warnings of law enforcement agencies, the U.S. Treasury intends to deal with scammers who use crypto-currencies by means of sanctions.

However, the Office does not explain how it will block included in the list of wallets and addresses, and how it plans to punish individuals and companies engaged in transactions included in the sanctions list of addresses cryptocell.
