UNICEF urges gamers to mine Ethereum for charity

International UN Fund for child protection UNICEF has launched a project of collecting funds for Syrian children, calling on gamers to get their cryptocurrency. Download software Gamer Chaingers and instructions for its use on the project site.

Project participants Game Chaingers have to obtain cryptocurrency Ethereum and send it to UNICEF, which promises to use these funds to help Syrian children.

According to representatives of the organization, mining cryptocurrency is not accompanied by increased consumption of electricity, therefore attracted gamers.

While the miners use their system constantly, gamers have to eat, study, sleep and work, and hence have a lot of downtime. UNICEF hopes that they will want to provide their powerful game consoles (and related energy costs) during such downtimes and thus to support charitable activities without having to make a single money transfer.
