The operator of the payment cards Visa has claimed responsibility for a double Commission and the erroneous debiting of funds from the accounts of users of Coinbase, although previously denied his guilt.
Last week, Coinbase users have problems, some of them reported an erroneous withdrawal of fees from their credit and debit cards. After confirming these messages, Coinbase put the blame for what is happening to Visa, stating that «double charges are the result of errors in Visa transactions. Coinbase didn’t do it».
The representative of Visa was first reported by the Financial Times, what is happening to blame Coinbase, stating that Visa «has not made any systemic changes that would lead to the duplication of the transactions reported by cardholders […], we don’t know about other sellers, faced with this problem».
However, shortly after this the Visa company unexpectedly reported the opposite. In a joint statement
Visa and Worldpay, published in the official blog of Coinbase, said:
«In the last two days, some customers who used a credit or debit card for purchases on Coinbase, could face a double write-off of commissions from their cards. This problem was not the fault of Coinbase. At the moment Worldpay and Coinbase are working with Visa and Bank card issuers to guarantee the elimination of duplicate transactions and the respective returns were sent to the accounts of holders of cards».
The statement also said that by the time of publication a large part of the erroneous transaction has been canceled and if users continue to face the problem, they should contact the Bank that issued the card.
